I’ve tried on a couple of safe trends, but as of late my liking for large leopard prints on blazers or tops remains stong. My style lately are made of solid colors, black or navy blue skinny leg denim or pair of pants. A couple of basics to make mix and matching easier. Although I like retail therapy as much as the next girl, I  barely shop for clothes when I am in Haiti.

The last time that I was able to travel throughout the country was exactly a year ago. Ever since the last stop I’ve been yearning to take a long ride bus to a foreign place just to explore and feel the joy. So when 2 of my co-workers shyly approached me about a road trip to the country side, I was delighted. The early birds couldn’t even catch me on Monday February 27th, I left happily my house with my signature ‘Lakay se Lakay’ Purple Tshirt, my big hat (borrowed from Mom) traded my usual pair of heels and dress pants for tennis shoes, my back pack and camera tucked at my hip like a true tourist.

Let me just state if you grew up in a Haitian household, you can testify with me that we have different ways we take our vacation. If you are that kid under the age of 18 you have no choice but to do vacation your parent’s way. The type of vacations varies from running naked wild and free to the rivers in the beautiful countrysides of Haiti. You have the gateway from the chaotic capital of Port-Au-Prince from your rich uncle beach house in Labadee. Then you have your usual overseas vacations to the States, Canada, The Caribbean Island and further away in Europe and please don’t shoot me if I didn’t describe the other type of vacations. I’ve always fall into the category of spending my summers overseas since I was a little girl. However, one of the good side of being over the age 18 is the fact that I can decide how I want to spend my day off in my 2nd hometown away from my Home country.
